2013 NIEMC Symposium & Monthly Meeting

E-mail Print PDF

All,

Attached is an updated flyer for the 2013 Symposium. Please share this information widely. Our focus in this session is on Public Information. We have some great information and have a key note speaker who has agreed to travel to our area to speak with us. He is a leader in the field of social media and inclusive planning. Please plan to attend. As always, if you are a paid member of the Consortium, you may attend as a benefit of membership. All others, there is a small fee – but we were able to maximize our opportunities this time and have dropped the rate by $10.00.

Please see the attached flyer and pass it along to anyone that has an interest in Public Information.

Our monthly meeting will be conducted at the start of the Symposium. This month, we will start the meeting right at 0800 so please be prompt. We will hold an abbreviated meeting and then will open the Symposium with our Keynote presenter. That session will conclude before the normal end time of our meeting so if you are only able to stay for a portion of the Symposium, we still need you to register on the website (we must have a total number to plan for the refreshments): www.niemc2013.eventbrite.com.

Mass Dispensing Website Drill

E-mail Print PDF

Dear Community Partner,

Your participation is requested in the evaluation of a pilot website designed for residents to access in the event of a bioterrorism attack.  Health Departments in northern Illinois, parts of Indiana, and Wisconsin (known as the Chicago Metropolitan Statistical Area, or Chicago MSA) are charged with making sure individuals and families get the right medication in a fast amount of time if a bioterrorism attach were to occur.

These health departments in the Chicago MSA have been designing a pilot website that will allow individuals and families to enter important information to get the right medication for each member of their household, find out what their closest location is to pick up the medication, and have contact information for their closest health department.

From June 3-5, 2013, this pilot site will be active and accessible to the public to gain valuable feedback for how we can enhance this website during an actual bioterrorism event.

We need your help! Between June 3 – 5, please do the following:

1.       Save June 3 – 5 on your calendar!

2.       During June 3 – 5, access the pilot website (the link will be coming soon).

3.       Follow the instructions as if you were getting meds for yourself and your family.

4.       Take a brief 5 minute survey afterwards to let us know what you thought.

As we approach the date, we will send you additional information and reminders.

Thanks for your participation in this important preparedness initiative!

If you have any questions, contact your health department representative:

Submit Your Volunteer Hours

E-mail Print PDF

Usually the Retired Senior Volunteers (RSVP) will receive a message from me about the documentation of Volunteers Hours. This month and in the future months ALL volunteers, not just our valued RSVP volunteers will need to report all your volunteer hours.  You strengthen the PEMA program with your service to the Palatine Community.  Tom does have sign in sheets at various trainings and events.  But there has not been any form of documentation of the collected hours besides him adding them up at the end of the year.  You ask the reason why???
