We are the Palatine Emergency Management Agency.  We believe that everyone can do something to help make our families and our communities safer through:

Personal responsibility: Developing a household preparedness plan and disaster supplies kits, observing home health and safety practices, implementing disaster mitigation measures, and participating in crime prevention and reporting. Our Emergency Management Agency (EMA) Speakers Bureau can supply a speaker to your community group who can discuss preparedness and response.

Training: Taking classes in emergency preparedness, Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), sheltering, damage assessment, first aid, CPR, severe weather spotting and other unique opportunities.

Volunteer service: Engaging individuals in volunteer activities that support first responders, disaster relief groups, and community organizations. Everyone can do something to support the four stages of emergency management: prevention, mitigation, response and recovery efforts. EMA volunteers work directly with village staff to update and monitor the effectiveness of the Emergency Operations Plan (EOP).

Palatine Emergency Management Volunteers are:

Assisting village staff in maintaining and updating the Emergency Operations Plan through the Planning Committee;

Providing opportunities for all program volunteers to utilize their special skills and interests through the Membership Committee;

Providing information to residents at all times of the day and the year through the Web Site Committee;

Developing targeted outreach for the community, including special needs groups through the Marketing Committee;

Providing opportunities for spontaneous volunteers to assist in region or state disasters through the Spontaneous Volunteer Management Support Team;

Providing opportunities for community, church and civic groups to train as “reserve” responders through the Mass Care Team;

Supporting village staff and departments in times of disaster by training to become a member of the Damage Assessment Team;

Capturing smart practices and report accomplishments;

Creating opportunities for all residents to participate!

Becoming involved with your Palatine Emergency Management Agency helps to create the groundwork for the long-term preparedness and safety of our neighborhood.
